less in-cabin exhaust noise because of the top and the trunk design. I think that in a coupe the exhaust noise seems to travel up the hatch to the rest lf the cabin. In the convertible there is the top and the tonneau between the driver and the exhuast, plus wind noise etc with the top down so the exhaust seems a lot more "distant" I am sure others can give a more technical explanation. Hope this helps
